Thank you for finding BNSFSUCKS.net

This page was originally designed to have a survey and discussion about Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad and employees - as well as - other railroads or companies.

Most of the feedback from the survey and letters has been about BNSF - Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad and Union Pacific Railroad.

Because of the privacy and nature of many of the letters and survey answers, most have ask me to keep their names private for now.  I have considered writing a book, or at least compiling the information for use at a later date. I have considered giving my information to another party that has taken great interest in this project.

Down and Dirty

From all the information given to me, BNSF (Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad) is like most major corporations.  It has some of the worst people and policies and some of the best.  As with many corporations, sometimes the top don't know what the middleman or the bottom are doing - good or bad. There are those railfans that love railroads NO matter what, the company men - who are just trying to raise their families, the employee that is just doing this job until something else comes along, then there are the renegade employees, the flat out crooks, and the low level management.

Each of these people, have a place in the BNSF (Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad) corporate family. Most of the policies are written to cover a broad area of topics, they sadly will miss many of the loopholes. The renegade employees, crooks and low level management will take advantage of both the loopholes and other employees.

Category of Employees

Corporate Authority - Seems like some are doing their job to make BNSF a good and safe place to work, have concern for the consumers, and actually care about the corporation. Others, not so much. There seems to be corruption in every major corporation.  Many people are out for number one - self. Many times it isn't even about money, power, or authority, but about ego. When some people don't have a healthy ego, they put other people down just for the fun of it. It is a failure within that person - not the person they are attacking.

Regular Employees - BNSF  - being a major corporation, has many different jobs and titles. Each play an important part to the whole. It is like a boat in water. If someone makes a hole in the ship it will eventually sink, or have major damage if the holes are not fixed properly.

From office jobs - far removed from movement of freight and other employees in the real world of BNSF, to conductors, engineers, track building and repair the different jobs are numerous. Each employee have an important part of BNSF.  Some are company men who's fathers and forefathers worked for Santa Fe or Burlington Northern. Many of these got jobs from the shirttails of other employees. Many of these are very happy with their job because it is one company where one can get a high paying job with relatively no education.  Several love their job, but not some  much love for management. Many will do their jobs, ignore any wrongdoings to not make waives in fear of losing the job that is providing for their family. Some employees just want a job  - any job. Others (like railfans) have grown up wanting to work for the railroad. Most of these people make good co-workers and employees for BNSF. Then there are the renegade employees that can be expected to do almost anything - literally - if it serves self.  The crooks are not much better. They will probably be crooks all their life. They don't like other employees that either are not crooks, or would at some point possibly rat on them. They run in fear of everyone - yet they are the ones proclaiming there is no fear the loudest. Low level management seems to be the stem of most of the problems for BNSF (Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad) corporation and other employees alike. Low in the terms of position, attitude, intelligence, integrity, honesty, and ability to manage.  This is where the majority of complaints seems to come from in the letters I have received. Yet, we have heard a fair share about upper management possibly getting caught and removed from position.

FRA - Federal Railroad Authority - Not really a part of BNSF, but a major player. The only complaints I have heard about them are from crooks that don't want to get caught doing something they should not be doing. Most employees want a safe place to work.

Regulations seem to much some times, yet, if you knew what actually was allowed  (or gotten away with) you would be calling for stronger regulations and supporting FRA to the fullest. Some don't like regulations because some broad topics don't fit every situation.  Yet, FRA does not have the manpower to catch and deal with every aspect of infractions to all out criminal acts. If you knew all about the railroads you would think the regulations were very relaxed.

ORIGINAL PURPOSE

I had originally designed BNSFSUCKS.net as a discussion board to discuss many different topics. The survey has provided a lot of starting topics so others can express what has happen to them along with other issues that still exist today. Most of this is not being published at this time.

If you would like to add to the discussion or have me put specific topics on the internet, please email me at diane@bnsfsucks.net

Karma

or helping karma out?

I was blown away.
What could I say?
It all seemed to make sense.
You've taken away everything,
And I can't deal with that.
I try to see the good in life,
But good things in life are hard to find.

We'll blow it away, blow it away.
Can we make this something good?
Well, I'll try to do it right this time around.

It's not over.
